The ambiance of this place is really neat and it's a lot of fun being in a place with so much history! I made a reservation, but didn't seem to need it as it was pretty quiet with only a few other groups in the dining room (I went around 5pm midweek, so it may have gotten busier later). Staff was very friendly and attentive. I got the Von Trapp Dunkel beer which was delicious. I also got the Tavern Burger which was wasn't anything special, but it was still good and possibly the most filling burger I've ever had. The fries were outstanding! I'm not sure if it was worth the price, but it was a fun experience and I would still try it again.

We love this place! My wife and I love visiting historical sites and it's even better when it's a pub. We came here while in town in December and we loved our meal. The beer selection was great and my wife really liked her cocktail. I had a delicious burger with sweet potato fries and my wife had a steak with fries that she really liked as well. The history of the building is fantastic as well and it's just a cozy and comfortable place to have a drink and relax. It's definitely one that we're going to visit again in the future!

Met friends here who like the coming to the old part of NYC - very cool area and this is as cool as it gets. You can practically here the gossip and conspiracy conversation leak from the walls. We arrived very late in the evening after the kitchen closed, but the food we saw and menu looked wonderful! Great selection on tap, mixology cocktails and i had a hard hot cider ( came in a tea cup!)

Long over due review. We had a fantastic meal at Fraunces Tavern. Had the filet on a hot rock and it was phenomenal. The decor was really cool, and had a great overall experience when we visited. I highly recommend it.

I was able to visit this beautiful tavern in the Financial district. Although I wasn't able to see the upstairs museum I was able to have a drink where many of our founding fathers sat! As a US Marine this was definitely a bucket list spot crossed off! I had the New York Apple Cider, Citrus Juice Blend, Winter Spices, Turmeric, Maple Syrup, Freshly Grated Nutmeg, and Laird's Applejack Brandy! It was amazing and highly recommended if you come in the winter! There were many areas to this Tavern, we had Independence bar, Tallmadge room, Piano bar upstairs, The Dingle Whiskey bar, and where I sat, the Hideout bar. All areas were gorgeous. Enjoy the pics and timeline! The oldest bar in NYC with a rich history: -The building was originally built in 1719 -Samuel Fraunces purchased the building in 1762 -The building was used as a boarding house and bar until the 1840s Revolutionary War history: -The Sons of Liberty used the tavern as a headquarters and may have plotted the New York Tea Party there -The British ship HNS Asia fired a cannon ball through the roof of the tavern in 1775 -Fraunces provided food, materials, and intelligence to the Continental Army Post-Revolutionary War history: -The tavern was the site of George Washington's farewell to his officers in 1783 -The tavern housed the first offices of the Departments of Foreign Affairs, War, and Treasury from 1785 to 1788 Later history: -The building was damaged by fire multiple times in the 19th century -The Sons of the Revolution purchased the building in 1904 and restored it in 1906-1907 -The Fraunces Tavern Museum was established on the second and third floors in 1907

We had reservation set for 730p @ the Piano Bar - upstairs. Got there early and decided to hang out in The Whiskey Bar. We loved it. The lights were dim, the fireplace was lit. It was a slight romantic feel but the feeling of ease and relaxation..WITH a glass of whiskey, felt amazing. At about 715p, we were ready for the Piano Bar to sit, eat, drink and listen to some live music. Food came out decently quick. Unfortunately I had to send the pappardelle back - asked for no Parmesan and boy..was it loaded. However, they came back out with the perfect plate. The live music was great - the bartender and waitress also sang! The entire feel of the place is dim lit having you feel relaxed. Def a place to visit if you're ever in town. The history of Fraunces Tavern also, is quite interesting as well! It was the topic of our conversation at the Whiskey Bar.

This is a super cool spot in the Financial District. There is so much historical charm and options in this building. You will want to make reservations because it is very busy! The current building was built in 1719 and was where George Washington said farewell to the Continental Army. They had a cozy little whiskey bar with a good selection. I got the Tavern Burger with the sweet potato fries. They are $2 upgrade but WORTH it. The fries are delicious!! So crisp on the outside but fluffy on the inside.

Visiting NYC, folx said it is a must to visit Fraunces Tavern - older than the country itself! We came on a Tuesday afternoon. It seems like a place where locals get lunch or have business meetings. It was moderately busy when we went. It has an old timey bar feel - feels a little like going back in time. I had to get the Chicken Pot Pie (if it was good enough for Washington, it's good enough for me!) overall, it was pretty good. It was flavorful and hot. There's a second floor museum, but you have to pay admission. Overall, recommend for a tourist visiting NYC!

As we enter the season of joyous festivities we were thrilled to kick off here at Fraunces Tavern. The oldest landmark tavern frequented by our founding fathers commencing in the 1760s. You could sense their presence in the creaky wooden floors where they celebrated the retreat of the Red Coats and the victory of the new America. Our friends had reserved the private historic Bissell Room on this rainy evening. Delicious platters of food, many libations and wonderful company to celebrate with. Wishing you all a fabulous holiday season and Happy Thanksgiving! Cheers!
